Introduction
Between 23rd and 25th September, teachers Maura Santos and Sandra Gaspar took part in an Erasmus+ mobility in Turkey, as part of the Climate Action to Save the Future project, together with partners from Croatia, Poland and Turkey, the host country.
This initiative aimed to strengthen European cooperation, share good pedagogical practices, and enhance skills in the areas of digital tools, climate change, and renewable energies.

23rd September – Climate Change, Web 2.0 Tools & Sustainability
The day began at Dr. Fevzi Mürüvvet Uğuroğlu Ortaokulu, the host school, with a welcome coffee, the official opening ceremony, and an introduction to the project.
The host country presented its contributions to the project, along with student work and musical performances featuring a traditional Turkish instrument. Partners also shared their progress so far — from research works done by students, awareness campaigns, sustainability activities and the presentation of other associated projects.
Later in the morning, partners enjoyed and tasted some traditional food from each country. This moment enabled a warm cultural exchange filled with a rewarding conversation.
In the afternoon, the host school presented activities on Web 2.0 Tools, distributing to all participants a “Guidebook for Teachers on How to Use Web 2.0 Tools in the Classroom” and a leaflet with sustainable action tips for everyday life.
This was followed by a discussion session with local parents and Professor Dilek Karisan, a university lecturer, exploring climate change issues illustrated by examples from each partner country.
At the end of the day, each participant received a personalised gift set – a mug, notebook, bag, and T-shirt featuring the project and partner logos, and the flags of all participating countries.

24th September – Cultural Exploration: A Historical Odyssey
The second day offered a journey through Turkey’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
The morning began with a visit to the House of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi) on Mount Koressos – a serene and moving experience at what is believed to be the final home of Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
We then travelled to the ancient city of Ephesus, walking its marble streets and admiring landmarks such as the Library of Celsus, the Great Theatre, and other magnificent ruins. The interactive museum further enriched our understanding of archaeology and everyday Ephesian life.
The day concluded in the coastal city of Kuşadası, where we enjoyed a delicious dinner overlooking the Aegean Sea. The combination of Turkish cuisine and a spectacular sunset provided a perfect and relaxing end to a culturally enriching day.

25th September – Reflection & Closure
The final day began back at the host school, with partners confirming details of the next mobility, to be held in Portugal and coordinated by the Agrupamento de Escolas do Forte da Casa, from 19th to 25th April (activities between 20th and 24th April).
An exchange of traditional gifts followed, with photos capturing these special moments. Each participant also shared a short video reflection, offering feedback on their mobility experience.
The event concluded with a farewell lunch offered by the Director of the host school, a warm and informal moment of fellowship, featuring authentic Turkish dishes enjoyed in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
