The 8th-grade students attended a lecture presented by CMVFX on composting.
At Padre José Rota School, we want to get our hands in the soil and create a school garden. To do that, we need fertile soil and the solution is right here: in the organic waste from our kitchens.
When food scraps are thrown into mixed waste, they often end up in landfills, releasing greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. These changes directly affect the oceans: rising water temperatures, acidification, and loss of marine biodiversity.
By composting, we turn food waste into natural fertilizer, closing the cycle of nature:
less waste;
less pollution;
more life in the soil;
healthier oceans.
Our choices on land have an impact on the sea.
